Sanctions now: reasons to expel Israel’s Ambassador
JVL Introduction
Sanctions against Israel are long overdue. The government and Labour MPs claim they are using “all diplomatic levers” but this is not the case. Here Jonathan Cook outlines some of the many ways in which Starmer and his government are not using doing that, indeed: “The truth is that even the government’s highly circumscribed “sanctions” against Israel are nothing more than hollow threats. It has been, and continues to be, business as usual with Israel throughout the Gaza genocide.” Here Cook particularly focuses on the many reasons why Israel’s Ambassador to the UK should be expelled as (at best) an apologist for genocide.
Instead of expelling her, the government has done all it can to ban protest calling for her expulsion, trying to silence protestors, including arresting Jewish protestors.

Why is the UK sheltering Israel’s genocide-inciting ambassador?
It is long past time Tzipi Hotovely was expelled from London. Starmer’s inaction proves he has no intention of stopping his support for Israel’s crimes in Gaza.

I wish there was a journalist asking questions like these of senior labour politicians; saw Wes Streeting last night getting a real soft ride by an interviewer (can’t remember which one), allowed to show his ‘concern’ for situation in Gaza without any urgency to take any action bar Starmer and Lammy ‘making representations’, prefaced by the inference that this was. somehow a harder position on the issue. Jonathan Cook as always saying it like it is, I read this last night on his blog (which I recommend) and it is good that JVL is re-posting.
Wes Streeting is yet another of the members of Labour Friends of Israel who form 30% of Starmer’s cabinet –David Lammy is another.
Bicom leader –Trevor Chinn — put up the money for Starmer’s leadership campaign
Jonathan Cook presents a comprehensive analysis which details why the present Israeli ambassador should be expelled from the UK.
The faux “outrage” from Starmer and Lammy is nothing than a carefully-choreographed and cynical charade; it provides cover for the Government’s meaningless gestures towards the genocide which the UK is actively supporting.
