Israeli prison guards can torture and rape Palestinian prisoners with impunity

JVL Introduction

Gideon Levy writes with righteous fury because the shocking revelations of torture and, in this case, vicious sexual abuse, is as nothing to the Israeli establishment and the large number of Jewish Israelis who support the government and, like them, regard Palestinians as less than human. Total exoneration, dropping of all charges and more concerned with how the video was leaked than by what it revealed.

This is a terrifying reality for imprisoned Palestinians who are treated abysmally at best, with inadequate food and health care.  Never forgetting that fully a third of incarcerated Palestinians have not even been charged, let alone tried and found guilty not even by the Military Courts that have a 99.7% conviction rate for Palestinians. Being in “administrative detention” is not a protection from torture and nothing ever justifies torture.  However, Israel’s National Security Minister proudly shows  abuse meted out to Palestinian prisoners to the Press showing them that torture has become normalised, acceptable and its use not to be questioned.

For Levy: “…truth has no importance anymore. What really happened is irrelevant, reality has no more role to play, only fabrications do. In the prevailing atmosphere that’s taken over, any lie can conceal any truth. This is a scrambling of all values, even more important than the existence of a military prison where torture took place.

Until the international community applies meaningful sanctions on this rogue State, this will continue and we will all be complicit or at least share responsibility.

Once Upon a Time, Israeli Prison Guards Abused Palestinians in Sde Teiman – or Did They?

From here on, military prison guards are allowed to rip the anus of every prisoner, as long as he is Palestinian, to break his ribs, puncture his lungs. Not only will no harm come to them, they will become heroes

  • Yesterday Sunday March 15th I was at the Bush theatre Shepherds Bush to watch and listen to a row of actors reading «  Hossain’s Words from Gaza »:
The voices of men, women, a child….describing their experiences under this brutal Israeli occupation, this genocide ( supported by the UK government )
Far more impacting hearing these personal narratives than all the boring presentations in formal meetings. The most searing a Palestinian prisoner describing the rapes, being made to watch the gang rape then murder of a 16/year old boy. Starmer, Lammy, Cooper should be made to hear this too. Jonathan Chadwick and Hossein gathered these painful narratives into this remarkable text. They are willing for it to be taken up by actors, amateur and professional all over the UK. The words speak the truth. I want it recited in parliament, in Brussels, in DC. No scenery needed. Just chairs for those who speak the words of suffering, such injustice, describing their real experiences of life under Israel’s bestial occupation.

  • Perhaps one day all those who were complicit will be seen in the Hague…God willing.
