It’s time Britain apologised for its historic role in Palestine

A group called “Britain Owes Palestine” has presented a petition to the UK government calling for the British Government to apologise for its role in Palestine from 1917 to 1948. The document was drafted by leading human rights barristers Ben Emmerson KC and Danny Friedman KC, with regional experts Professor John Quigley, Professor Avi Shlaim, and Assistant Professor Victor Kattan. It has backing from dozens of MPs.
“The lead petitioner is Palestinian philanthropist Munib Al Masri (now 91 years old), who at age 13 was shot by British soldiers and witnessed repeated violence against his community. He is joined by 13 other petitioners from a range of backgrounds. “
Britain needs to acknowledge its historic role as a colonial power “administering” Palestine, not least with the edicts of the Balfour Declaration freshly signed not long before the Mandate began.

Dozens of MPs call for formal apology over Britain's actions during Palestine administration
A 400-page legal petition has been sent to the government providing details of what they say happened under the British administration between 1917 and 1948.

The British Government owes a deep apology to the Palestinian people for the wanton colonial brutality meted out by the British military at the end of the 2nd WW and immediately afterwards. It was totally savage, for which there can be no excuse.
Much more than an apology Britain should be strongly condemning Israel’s genocidal actions, ensure that the bombing and settler violence is stopped immediately, that the thousands of wounded Palestinians receive proper medical treatment and help to replace their destroyed homes
A formal apology could, shóuld be a prelude to stop whitewashing Israel’s crimes.
Good luck in trying to get the guardians of Britain’s fading imperialism to acknowledge their historic guilt. Of course, the duplicity goes back a little further than 1917, to the 1916 Sykes-Picot carve up of the Ottoman empire between Britain and France, and the McMahon letter promising Arab self-determination. But a confession would open the floodgates to a wave of similar demabds, so don’t hold your breath.
I agree that Britain should apologise to the Palestinians of all religions and ethnicities. The problem is that the UK does not deal with the crimes currently committed by Israelis against the Palestinian population.
These requests are mild and should be fulfilled

What should have been taught in secondary schools, is the truth about WHITE colonialism & the effects &destruction it caused around the world. Like the violent British Armies that hated “ foreigners” whilst in that “ foreigners “ country❗️
The games the military played with Palestinians was so appalling & yet it was kept quiet, they teased then shot Palestinians then hid their bodies ❗️It was noted , either by JVL a while back , it was an article that was specific & had a few black & white photos❗️
Yet those horrors continued & once the Zionist movement increased the slaughter of Palestinians became routine & grew openly as the walls started to grow & the Razor wire spread, creating a massive huge Concentration Camp guarded day & night❗️To this day Starmers words resonate like bullets into bodies‼️
“ Israel has the Right to defend itself”
He should have finished that speech with “ BUT THE PALESTINIANS HAVE NO RIGHTS‼️‼️& never will‼️
History is written somewhere about these atrocities that happened in our life times, & some were actually there & remember what the rise of Israel’s third Reich looked like & still does❗️
How would Britain help, especially with a PM a Zionist & an Israeli loyalist, who sees no wrong in what has been done to Palestinians & continues being done , simultaneously whilst now slaughtering the Lebanese also Muslims & Christians ❓❓
