A call on France and the UK to act together on Palestine

More than 100 British and French ex Ambassadors have joined together to ask President Macron and Prime Minister Burnham to take action together on Palestine/Israel.
A letter to this effect was published in Le Monde today and sent, as an Open Letter, to Andy Burnham and copied to Ed Miliband.
It says the time for words is past. Action is needed now.
“Israeli Government policies wreak grievous harm on Israel’s neighbours, undermine Israel’s standing in the world, and flout laws on which we all rely. The letter recommends seven policy measures to implement international law, advancing justice and peaceful coexistence. The UK and France have historic responsibilities and convening power, to give a lead to like-minded governments in Europe and around the world for a just peace and equal rights.”

High time UK government called a halt to any form of support for Zionism as it has demonstrably started to corrupt UK society; our way of life, our values and democracy.
I support this initiative towards a secure lasting peace for all Palestinians & recognition of Palestinian self determination & states joined as one under the United Nations Charter. I call upon the British Government & European governments to apply all diplomatic agencies to augment this NOW & stop the flow of arms , intelligence gathering on Israel’s behalf.
Britain colonised land to create Israel. Along with France, Britain should make reparations by advocating the the 2 state solution, which is consistent with their recognition of the state of Palestine
The most authoritative move to date to bring realisation to the rancid Israeli government that their hitherto immunity from meaningful opposition to the despicable State they have become is no longer to be repercussion-free. But this initiative with its impressive list of signatories must be followed up by the actions as outlined. So come on Macron and Burnham!
Watching Labour hesitate over the ICC’s findings on Israel has felt like a deep fracture in the values the party claims to stand for. The genocide recognised by international bodies isn’t a distant argument — it’s a human catastrophe, and international law demands accountability.
The ICC has issued rulings. Restrictions have been set. These aren’t optional guidelines; they’re the legal framework the world relies on when the powerful cross lines that should never be crossed. Labour should be standing firmly with those rulings, not edging around them.
It’s about whether we still recognise humanity when it’s under assault. I want Labour to accept the reality and name the genocide for what it is, and commit to upholding the restrictions that justice requires. Anything less feels like a betrayal of the principles that the party once held.
