New Report: Israel’s Systemic Torture of Palestinians it incarcerates

The widely respected UN Special Rapporteur on Palestine, Francesca Albanese has produced a new report, this time focusing on torture. You can read the Report here.

The findings are shocking but have attracted minimal coverage in the legacy media; the only example I could find was this France 24 piece which is clear but uses the term “claims” rather than reporting on what Ms Albanese found in her work.   You can also read this Legal Analysis of  the Report here.

Albanese has amassed c 300 testimonies and calls on the whole world to end this, not least in consideration of the lasting physical and psychological impact of ““Brutal beatings, sexual violence, rape, lethal mistreatment, starvation, and the systematic deprivation of the most basic human conditions” on both those who have been incarcerated and their families. Torture was used before October 7th 2023 but, says Albanese, since then the system of incarceration, including over 3,000 without any charge “has descended into a regime of systemic and widespread humiliation, coercion, and terror”.

We need to do all we can to get her findings and those of  B’Tselem and other organisations as widely known as possible while also resisting the concerted attempts to delegitimise Ms. Albanese with false allegations of antisemitism.
