Isolate Israel for the sake of peace
JVL Introduction
Even Trump and Kushner’s vision for Gaza holds little sway and the Palestinian narrative of justice and self determination will be ignored while Israel and its unapologetic supporters continue to bear no consequences for its innumerable violations of international law. Israel’s plans to annex the West Bank and, if possible Gaza too are continuing apace with little more than occasional diplomatic “tuts”. As the writer says: “ Netanyahu’s core objective is ensuring that international law is never implemented, that no semblance of Palestinian sovereignty is established, and that Israel can contravene the law at a time and manner of its choosing.”
This is not hidden from view but openly stated and the impact is shared with us by courageous journalists in Gaza and reliable Palestinian, Israeli and international activists in the West Bank. We must keep up the pressure on our governments to end trade, culture and other links to Israel. The overwhelming majority of the people of the world want this to end and for justice and peace for all the people in the region.

The three narratives: Gaza as the last moral frontier against Israel’s policy of annihilation

I have been thinking in the last few months, how the public should deal with Israelis engaging in tourism and I think isolation might be the approach, not full on intolerance, in some circumstances; with persons ‘ being sent to Coventry’.
I don’t care about a IDF veteran being chucked out of a bar, but when it comes to families with children, I don’t like the idea of them receiving full on abuse.
My approach is based upon the following example.
An Israeli family are visiting Paris, they go to a nice restaurant and order their food. The Waiter figures out where they are from, and goes about serving them food, but does not fully engage in conversation; they are polite but reserved. The family senses this behavior but cannot complain about it, knowing that other people will respond and they run the risk of appearing on TikTok etc.
After leaving the restaurant, the senior family members will be explaining the waiter’s behavior, stating, of course, they experienced discreet Antisemitism, but they themselves cannot ignore that small voice in their conscience, knowing that it is a reaction to Gaza.
Now, this will be even more difficult if the Israeli family have children.
They will again, state antisemitism, but should those children see Jewish civilians going about their day, being treated different to their own family, they will begin to ask questions and do some research.
That family risks division, should this occur; due to this risk – the children learning in time, that their parents are dishonest, their awkward encounters with persons abroad is not due to antisemitism but Israel; that they have been indoctrinated and their state is responsible for genocide, whilst exploiting at the same time, the memory of the Holocaust.
That younger generation might break ties with their parents and choose to leave Israel.

I’m afraid Josh’s post doesn’t go far enough for me. It’s too subtle. I think a public and world-wide condemnation is what there should be. Those who voted for Netanyahu need to see what the world thinks of him and his followers and try to do something about it NOW. But who will start this. Certainly not the Israel-worshipping Starmer, so who?
