Hind Rajab and the architecture of impunity

Haim Bresheeth-Žabner draws our attention to three films about the occupation and subjugation of Palestine likely to feature in the Oscars soon. None has as yet acquired a US commercial distributor.
In a powerful review he focuses on one of them, The Voice of Hind Rajab.
The story of her murder, slowly, over time, in plain sight, is well-known and is clearly captured in the film in almost unbearable graphic detail, as the Palestine Red Crescent Society tried and failed to save her, and as Israel insisted on murdering her.
As Bresheeth-Žabner remarks in his moving conclusion:
“Hind dies in great confusion and fear. She fails to understand the world that has betrayed her.
“So do all Palestinians, and so does most of humanity. Hind is the child in us all – trying to decode the genocide, and failing, continuing to ask, month after month, year after year, decade after decade, why is no one coming to help? Can no one stop the nightmare? Are no humans left on earth?”

The little Hind in all of us demands answers. Hind is Palestine – tired, angry, confused, depressed, resolute, ready to resist and fight back, but deeply shocked.

We can only HOPE and WORK FOR the bringing to justice of all those criminally responsible for murdering Hind (along with up to 200,000 of her community). It will take time, patience, funding, meaningul sanctions and changes in national and international institutions … but it MUST happen.
What use is my extreme anger, deep sorrow and maybe deeper shame?
Maybe i should start praying again.

The Voice of Hind Rajab has its official UK and Ireland cinema release on Friday, January 16, 2026, the distributor is Altitude. Announced back in September.
Search for ‘voice of hind rajab screenings’ and you’ll find a few cinemas are showing it sooner or have done already.
