Harvard in support of BDS

JVL Introduction

In April we reported that Harvard Law School’s International Human Rights Clinic (IHRC) had recently declared Israel to be committing the crime of apartheid.

Now the Harvard student magazine, The Crimson, adds its voice in the form of an editorial statement supporting the colourful, multi-panel “Wall of Resistance” in favour of Palestinian freedom and sovereignty” which, they say, has forced the campus and The Crimson’s editorial board to wrestle with the realities of the situation, supporting BDS as a means for the Palestinains to achieve dignity and freedom.

It is adamant that “In the wake of accusations suggesting otherwise, we feel the need to assert that support for Palestinian liberation is not antisemitic. We unambiguously oppose and condemn antisemitism in every and all forms…”

As Bob Dylan put it all those years ago: The Times They Are a-Changin’.

  • The reference to Bob Dylan at the start of this suggests a complete unawareness of Dylan’s song ‘Neighbourhood Bully’, an embarrassingly Ill- informed defence of Zionist occupation of Palestine and a celebration of its military might.

  • I too was a bit surprised by the Dylan reference. His specious use of the David and Goliath metaphor was disappointing. The times they aren’t a-changin’.
