‘Accusing Israel of apartheid is not anti-Semitic’: Holocaust historian
JVL Introduction
More and more Israeli academics are using the word apartheid to describe the regime in Israel today.
Inevitably, Israeli hasbara describes its use as “antisemitic”.
This is not only wrong, but a dangerous cheapening of the term that blinds people to the real dangers of antisemitism in the world today, coming as it does overwhelmingly from the far right of the political spectrum – which generally loves Israel’s creeping fascism!
Amos Goldberg, a leading professor of the Holocaust at the Hebrew University, has published a scathing rebuttal in the Frankfurter Allgemeiner Zeitung.
The significance of such an article being published in Germany should not be underestimated.
