Is Israel destroying itself?

By Leah Levane

Gaza: It’s not really a conflict but a colonial occupation of Palestinian land. The real issue is Israel’s military occupation. It’s the most prolonged and brutal military occupation of modern times. That’s the real background; the October 7 Hamas attack is an expression of Palestinian resistance to the Israeli occupation. People don’t know the history of this conflict between Israel and Hamas. The past is crucial for understanding how we got here. It’s my job as a historian to put Hamas’s behavior in its proper historical context.

Using Israel’s tactics in Minnesota

US immigration officers and Israel have collaborated for decades and this has “included trips ferrying high-level U.S. law enforcement officials around Israel, joint training for immigration officers, and technology transfers that have put sophisticated surveillance capabilities in the hands of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Joseph Finlay has a simple argument in the article below: Jewish communal leaders in Britain are letting fascism off the hook.

To make his case he gives three brief accounts of fascism in the world today and looks at communal organisations’ reactions to them.

” What unites the failure of such bodies to condemn these various forms of contemporary fascism is that in each case their sole priority is Israel advocacy; they only campaign for causes that will further that goal.”

Holocaust Memorial Day: Never Again for Anyone

By Leah Levane

“As Jewish socialists today, we take particular inspiration from the Bundist Marek Edelman, Second in Command of the Uprising. A socialist, an anti-Zionist, an internationalist and anti-nationalist all his life, he said of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising: “We fought for dignity and freedom not for territory or a national identity.”
