Two UK charities donate millions to Israeli settlement in occupied West Bank

You couldn’t make it up.
“The UK has a clear position on Israeli settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territories: they are illegal under international law and constitute an obstacle to peace and the two-state solution.”
This position has been expressed countless number of times (e.g. here) by government representatives.
Yet here’s the thing.
The government doesn’t seem to have any problem with companies having dealings with these illegal entities.
Or with UK charities giving money to fund activities on those illegal settlements, money topped up with generous tax relief, as this Guardian story reveals.

Long overdue for a Jewish campaign to tackle the Charity Commission’s willingness to give the go-ahead to these charities, and to the CAA (got a minor rap on the knuckles) and to UK Lawyers for Israel. The donating charities are supporting a school in the next door village to a Palestinian village of the same name which is fighting to retain its right to exist against appalling settler and IDF attacks, while also completely disregarding international law. Perhaps the Charity Commission thinks it is not subject to international law either. Who on earth do they go to for legal advice? And perhaps they think that abusing and bullying supporters of the Palestinians, or even a hospital which briefly recognises Palestinian children as human – which is the signature note of the other two – is the sort of behaviour that is acceptable from an organisation with charitable status under British law.
What can you say? If there’s a loophole, they’ll find a way through it. Just adds to a sense of despair. Meanwhile we don’t buy Sabra hummus. And?
Charity Commission: just another so-called independent body captured by and afraid of the all-mighty Israel Lobby octopus.

Totally unbelievable, outrageous, and partisan. I hope there is some way to challenge the Charity Commission on this.
