Resume funding UNWRA – or be guilty of complicity with genocide

Now, extraordinarily Israel itself, the country that only came into being because of the Holocaust, itself stands accused of Genocide.
But there is more. This excoriating statement reproduced below, the Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention accuses 15 countries, with the US and the UK of course among those tagging along loyally, over their withdrawal of funding from UNWRA, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency. This has shifted those countries from potential complicity in genocide to actual involvement in engineered famine. This action is, as the Lemkin Institute puts it, tantamount to direct participation in the on-going genocide of Palestinians in Gaza.

The USA withdraws funding for UNWRA because of the alleged actions of a few workers of the organisation. It imposes sanctions on four “violent” “Settlers” while ignoring the illegal actions of hundreds of thousands of others.

Thats an absolute lie
Israel did not come into being because of the holocaust. The balfour declaration was in 1917. Its abhorrent to use the holocaust in this manner.
We are witnessing the wilful destruction of all International Human Rights in real time just as the planet breaches the 1.5 C tipping point which will lead to millions of climate refugees. Palestine is the defining issue and our best last chance for a more just and liveable future for all. We must look beyond our differences to unite and fight this mutual existential threat.
I’m sorry to say that allowing funds to UNRWA will make no difference as Israel has frozen its bank accounts so preventing UNRWA from using any funds it may have. Israel is inhumane.
Our rulers’ potty decision to suspend funding to the UNRWA seems to be based on self-interested allegations (without supporting evidence, it seems} from the extremist Israeli government and not so coincidentally following the international court ruling that Israel is doing genocide. It really stinks. Yet it is being put above help to the overwhelming majority of victims.
I just happened to turn the box on and put Channel 4 News on around 7.25 yesterday evening (Monday), and at that moment there was a report about Israel’s allegations about UNRWA employees, which as good as blew their claims out of the water. Every year UNRWA send a list of the names of all their employees to the Israeli authorities – and last did so in May of last year – and there were no problems with any of the thousands of people listed. Anyway, Ch4 News later posted the segment on their youtube channel, as I was sure they would, so here it is:

I think it’s blatantly obvious to anyone with a modicum of critical thinking that the whole thing was a conspiracy by the Dirty Tricks Brigade of Israel and the US and UK and other countries, and all planned in advance of the ICJ ruling. But if we play their game and pretend they are sincere – ie the countries which have suspended their funding to UNRWA – then surely the Channel 4 News ‘examination’ convinced them that the allegations are fraudulent….. as if the timing itself wouldn’t have been evidence enough!

Re: Israel’s allegations and the US and UK and other countries suspending their funding, it was their way of sticking two fingers up to the court and to S Africa, knowing of course that they would KNOW, along with UNRWA and the UN, that THAT is what they were doing, and that it was all a vicious, malevolent game that Israel and their chums were playing and, as such, completely bogus, and knowing that they – the court and S Africa and UNRWA – couldn’t say so publicly of course. And you can be absolutely certain that they are STILL laughing their heads off about it – ie Israel (BN and Co) and the US and UK et al.
I should point out that the court notified S Africa and Israel of their assessment two or three days before making it public, which was more than enough time for Israel and Co to concoct and contrive their ‘response’, but then, that said, they had more-than-likely done so already, in anticipation of the court finding in S Africa’s favour – ie in the event that they did, that is.
And it wasn’t just the court et al that they were sticking two fingers up to, but also the hundreds of millions of us around the world who have been horrified by what Israel have been doing, and ARE doing.
