Opposing the ban on Maccabi fans and the Israel lobby
JVL Introduction
Last Autumn fans of Maccabi Tel Aviv were banned from a match in Birmingham against Aston Villa; this led to a huge controversy with allegations of antisemitism and the resignation of the Chief Constable. JVL has been posting about the appalling behaviour of these fans since the events in Amsterdam and we have strongly supported the ban. (see past articles below)
The attempts to spin this ban into an example of antisemitism is one of the most extreme examples of weaponising antisemitism, supposedly in support of Israel, that we have seen. Yet again the sensitivities and even the safety of Muslim people is disregarded.

It will be interesting to see how the Irish will deal with their match against Israel. Apparently it’s going to be played in Dublin.
