Anti racist organisations have strongly criticised Keir Starmer for the language used in his speech on immigration and for aspects of the White Paper. Equalities groups have labelled the stance of his government, claiming that “uncontrolled migration had done ‘incalculable’ damage to British society”, a betrayal.
Starmer used to hold a very different position but does not even have the grace, let alone integrity, to acknowledge this; his token appreciation of our diverse society is inadequate.
Surveys also seem to indicate that those who voted for Reform in July last year are unlikely to vote Labour and yet this seems to be Starmer’s focus while ignoring the desertion by more liberal and left leaning people including people from racialised communities.
It is electorally myopic and morally indefensible.

Good.
after reading the speech on HMGov. Website. I think the first half was apallingly writtten and could have been designed to lose votes for labour. The second hald contained some sensible measures but still had me gasping for breath in the language used. It seems that Labour still has some people working a “Trojan Horse” in the camp. not satisfied with the dismissal of Jeremy Corbyn on Spurious charges of antisemitism, they are now working to destroy the Party to the level of rubble that Matched Gaza.
I’m not sure that Starmer is echoing Enoch Powell. He is certainly echoing Farage. I recently found myself sitting next to someone who was reading a Reform Party manifesto. It included the following: “Uncontrolled Immigration has Pushed Britain to Breaking Point.” Sound familiar? It might make more sense if he were to defect to Reform. It might lend him a tad more integrity.
Labour is a party of Imperialist war, austerity, wage slavery and Genocide. Why should anyone, regardless of race, support them ?
We should finish them off.
It he wants better relations between people, to bring them together, first of all don’t play the immigration card.
Margaret: “not satisfied with the dismissal of Jeremy Corbyn on Spurious charges of antisemitism…….” is not accurate. Although the continuous claims that JC was anti-semitic were responsible for embedding this in the minds of the populace the charge on which the NEC voted to expel him didn’t mention anti-semitism. One NEC member, no fan of Corbyn, Ann Black, refused to back this charge, seeing the dishonesty of the charge, something along the lines of ‘bringing the party into disrepute’ or some similar catch-all claim. Oh for more similar integrity in more NEC members.
