Juliet Stevenson says: UK support for Israel’s military has to stop

In a new short film, Every Day a New Atrocity, award-winning actor Juliet Stevenson lends her voice to a global movement by Palestinians, arts and culture workers, civil society and legal experts, demanding an end to UK complicity in the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
Lawyers from the Global Legal Action Network (GLAN) and leading Palestinian human rights organisation Al-Haq, have warned the government of their criminal liability over continued exports. On 18th November, they will present their challenge to government policy at the High Court.
Juliet Stevenson says in the film:
“Day after day, the news from Gaza is heart-rending. We are witnessing war crimes on a terrible and escalating scale. The UK is giving practical support to the military which is committing them. This has to stop.”

There is a desperate need for Kier Starmer and the Party leaders ro change their minds about their support for Israel; but when I hear Starmer at his press-conference on the subject of Israel’s widening military engagments on the region, and the very first words out of his mouth are ‘I stand by Israel’ then I know that there is nothing anybody can say which will shift them. These three words alone at the beginning of a major press-conference tell us all exactly where he stands and where we stand. I couldn’t stomach hearing a word more: so I switched to another channel. Nothing I’ve heard since persuades me that I was wrong. I fear that protests will fall on deaf ears for as long as Starmer is leader of the Party. He has done nothing, at home or abroad, to deserve his high office.
Surely most people recognise that Starmer is the classic Manchurian candidate – and the non too bright David Lammy (another ‘proud Zionist’) – is simply a careerist. Politics is stuffed with them on all sides. We should have contempt for them.
