The myth of Israeli innovation

JVL Introduction

Zionist propagandists love to chronicle Israel’s astonish successes since its “miraculous” foundation in 1948 “against all the odds”. More recently it has been eulogised as “the start-up nation”, the ingenuity of its people vaunted above all others. Its military achievements are held up for all to gaze on in wonder.

Too many have bought into this myth, as international relations expert Rhys Machold shows in this careful analysis of just how dependent Israel has always been on external support.

Israel does currently does have a profound hold over the Middle East, but it is not based on its exceptional creativity and martial prowess. Rather, it is a “dependent empire” reliant on Western arms and political backing.

We must hack away at  prevalent belief that “our” security depends on Israel’s striking innovative capacities, insisting that “Israel is not an indispensable partner offering innovation, but an aid-guzzling colony offering only complicity in genocide”.

  • Important to focus on the role of the US hegemon for which Israel is a proxy state to control the Middle East. Even if the feudal and nationalist Arab leaderships have bowed down to the US, that subservience may not be enough to keep the Arab masses from rebelling and supporting Palestine. Only an anti imperialist movement can hope to defeat those supporying Israel.
