Genocide is not just “harmful and disturbing,” it’s totally immoral!

JVL Introduction

The infamous claim by Israel, that its army is the most moral in the world, lost all credibility long ago. And yet US and other world leaders continue to act as if Israeli moral superiority is unquestionable. It’s a position that is used hypocritically to justify burgeoning supplies of American weapons to Israel, while making it abundantly clear to millions around the world that they are seeing a double standard at work.

Michael Young writes in the Carnegie Middle East Center blog Diwan:

“American politicians who marinate in the language of moral righteousness have ignored, consciously or not, the direction in which Netanyahu is taking Israel and the United States, as he pursues Israel’s destruction of Gaza, undermines a ceasefire agreement, and seeks to widen the war by provoking an armed confrontation between America and Iran.”

He concludes that Israel cannot continue to lay claim to exemption from responsibility for its immoral conduct.

  • Committing ethnic cleansing and acts of genocide since 1948, Israel never really had any credibility with those who were aware of the land thefts and attacks on Palestinians. Unfortunately, those who were aware and aggrieved felt driven to avenge the injustice with acts of “terrorism” – or rather acts of violence less subtle and more reported on than acts perpetrated by Israeli Zionists. The Western world through a biased media, swallowed the story that Palestinians were just anti-semites and wanted the deaths of all Jews. Few of their justified grievances were addressed or even recognised.
