BBC – You have until Passover to report OUR way

The Board of Deputies of British Jews issued a series of demands on the BBC to take action by the time Passover starts, which is April 12th. The BoD – and other Jewish Establishment organisations – seem to believe that the BBC is biased against Israel, despite substantial evidence to the contrary. see eg re the Asserson Report on BBC bias and here where the BBC’s own reporters say that there is bias against Palestine.
We would, however, support their demand, for an independent review into the BBC’s reporting on Gaza since October 7th – indeed, it would be useful to review further back than that. Of course, the BoD’s idea of independent and most people’s may differ. They also want the BBC to consistently (ie every time) remind its audience that Hamas et al are proscribed terrorist organisations; this may be reasonable if the BoD also insisted that the BBC consistently remind their audience that Israel is killing Palestinians, ie they do not just “die” and also that Israel has unquestionably violated International Law and is currently being investigated by the International Court of Justice for genocide, having already been conclusively found to have violated International Law through its occupation of the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza.
As a final insult; the deadline given for the response is the start of Passover, a festival celebrating the liberation of Jewish people from the yoke of the Egyptian Pharoah; where, as Jews we are instructed not only to invite the stranger to have a seat at the table, but also not to celebrate the deaths of the Egyptians for they are also human beings. We want to also celebrate the liberation of the Palestinian people. The Bod shows no interest in that, which is hardly surprising when, despite arrogantly claiming to speak for the Jews of Britain, one of their stated key aims is to advance the standing of Israel.

Pro-Israel pressure group ‘demands control’ of BBC’s Gaza coverage
Board of Deputies exists to ‘advance Israel’s security, welfare and standing’ and is telling the BBC how to cover Israel’s genocide in Gaza – though of course that word is not used

Last evening, Sunday 23 March, I watched with astonishment the six o’clock BBC news. For the first time that I can recall since 23 October 2023 the bulletin could be said to be ‘even handed’ in the way it dealt with Hamas and the state of Israel. For example it was pointed out that no independent reporters have been allowed into Gaza. It struck me at the time that this may be an answer to the ultimatum.
Perhaps someone who is knowledgeable about these things could enlighten us about exactly what the Board of Deputies is. What are its members deputies of? Are they self selected or are they elected and who by? Who do they think they represent? Simply referring to them as Establishment figures is not very enlightening.
My understanding is that Jews are a faith group. Amongst the other faith groups in Britain are Anglicans who are, rather anachronistically represented by a number of Bishops in the House of Lords. The BBC is not particularly careful to be accurate in its reporting of matters affecting the Anglican church. I doubt that we shall ever see the House of Bishops demanding control of how BBC reports matters affecting the Anglican church and if they were foolish enough to do so they would be laughed at and their demands ignored.

This is so ridiculous when I saw it on FB I assumed it was some kind of ‘Protocols’ smear or spoof. Frightening in its display of collective narcissism.
The Board of Deputies claims to speak for all UK Jews but actually only represents some of the minority who attend synagogues. The BBC and other authorities should give their whingeing scant attention. UK is now bedevilled by the Zionist lobby including the Campaign Against Antisemitism, BICOM, the Jewish Security Council, Jewish Labour Movement, Jewish Leadership Council. Labour ( and Conservative) Friends of Israel et al.
The Board of Deputies of British Jews consists of nearly 200 member synagogues and organisations who elect over 300 Deputies “to work to shape the future of British Jewry.”
As seen, they work to shape the rest of British society by deciding how the BBC should function, what measures the police should take regarding protests and so on.
The Nazis managed to increase European antisemitism by slogans such as ” the Jews rule the world”. By insisting that they control the BBC, the police and other instituitions, the Board of Deputies may remind of the nazi slogans and increase antisemitism.
Oh how gracious of the BOD. The BBC as usual will fall over backwards to accommodate the demands of organisations like the above mentioned. The BBC, to me, has lost all credibility as it betrays the ethics of journalism in its (news) reporting.
There is a very real danger that these groups, such as the Board of Deputies will “over reach” leading to some sort of backlash whereby Jews are blamed for stirring up all sorts of trouble. I feel they are playing with fire, besides, we all know what happened to the boy who cried wolf!
Can these organisations such as the BOD be referred to as ‘ agents of another country’ All hell would break out if a Russian organisation were to demand this of the BBC when reporting the Russian /Ukrainian war. Let’s face it we are constantly being bombarded by propaganda even when the truth is staring you in the face. I despair.
When bullies are allowed to bully without restraint, they bully the more and harder. At some point there vicious little pranks become outright sadism. This is Israel, and this is the BoD. What needs to be made clear is why the BBC is so wary of challenging the BoD and their like. It seems to me that of course it is more than just allowing itself to be intimidated: someone at the BBC supports the BoD and Israel in its aims, and is content to see the BoD set the agenda. Who, and why? JVL may have covered this topic before, but if so I’ve missed it. Help please?
While this distressing statement inadvertently supports the rationale for opposing Israel, it could also, rather unsettlingly, be utilized by some individuals and groups to reinforce a longstanding conspiracy theory. Those who engage in bullying often display both arrogance and foolishness.
