Karim Khan brought down for trying to hold Israel to account

Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan has been dismissed by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Israel has openly been out to get him sacked.
Not only Israel. President Trump is committed to destroying the ICC; Cameron as Foreign Secretary issued direct threats to “defund the court and withdraw from the Rome Statute” should Khan attempt to move against Netanyahu.
The accusations of sexual misconduct against Khan were serious and required investigation. They were indeed rigorously investigated and it was found by three senior judges that they “do not establish misconduct or breach of duty” by him beyond reasonable doubt, which was the level of certainty the judges ruled appropriate in a case of this importance. The substitution of ‘balance of probabilities’, at the urging of Israel and the USA, by the non-judicial political body of state representatives was designed to expedite Khan’s dismissal. Political imperatives determined the outcome, not respect for the woman’s testimony.
So, what better than a phoney retrial? These findings were overturned in a grotesque manipulation of procedure and miscarriage of justice as David Hearst details below, as overtly a political a manoeuvre as you could ever wish for.
It’s not just Khan they are out to get. Israel’s ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon has threatened Zohran Mamdani with the same fate saying, “@NYCMayor Zohran Mamdani, take note: using Israel as a political weapon will not shield you from accountability.”
It is not over yet. Public opinion has moved decisively against Israel. Currently the arrest warrants against Netanyahu and others have not been withdrawn. Don’t rule out the slender possibility of justice being done…

I checked out the Guardian article referred to in the above piece (about a second woman having come forward) and was initially very dubious about the allegations, but then I checked out the interview the Guardian linked to, and ‘Sarah’ comes across as genuine and truthful, and if she’s not, then she’s a brilliant actor. And I just checked out the MEE investigation that David Hearst cites above, which is pretty long and quite complicated to follow, which has left my brain somewhat befuddled and rather confused about it all, given the seemingly contradictory behaviour by Sarah, referred to in the piece as the complainant:

What a cesspit of lies and effluence. They are like vultures destroying his reputation.
These men fear truth.
We should call the US The United States and Israel. They have combined their military intel (NDAA section 219).
So war criminals we should call saints?
Genocide we should ignore and call it a friendly game of tag?
Anyone but Israel can be called war criminals and genocide used?
Lawyers who call Israel out we call perverts?
I think the real perverts are the ones accusing without proper evidential legal processes.
Wow these people live in the mouths of their own madness.

History is full of this same old same old.
If Karim Khan is credibly guilty then he should be charged and tried in a court of law before a jury, especially as the process he went through which ousted him smelled a lot like a stitch-up. If he is not so charged then more doubt arises as to whether Khan is actually guilty of the allegations made against him. The likelihood that the infamous Israel lobby concocted the charges in their endless campaign to ‘prove’ Israel is as pure as the driven snow is certainly credible.
