Farage’s dangerous lies on two tier policing

The appalling police mishandling of the murderous knife attack on Henry Nowak in Southampton is being exploited by the Far Right to fuel anger and sow division to further feed its pernicious agenda of hate.  This Morning Star editorial makes several important points, not least reminding us that Henry Nowak’s family explicitly asked that his death not be used to sow division. The family’s dignity in the wake of their terrible loss stands in sharp contrast to the politicians trying to make capital out of this tragedy.

Nigel Farage turned up in the House of Commons for the first time in weeks to complain about “two tier policing” against white people; many MPs did, at least, accuse him of inciting the violence that took place in Southampton with police attacked and many people terrified in their homes.  While Starmer strongly denied the allegation of  two tier policing he said nothing about the need for diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI) programmes because of ongoing police bias against Black and Muslim people. Former Labour Home Secretary, Jack Straw added fuel to the fire by saying that DEI programmes had “gone too far in the other direction”!

This article looks at reasons for the anger many feel but also notes: “Anti-racism is not a bid to disadvantage white people: it is a precondition of the working-class unity required to liberate us all.”
