The tide is changing on Gaza and Israel

By Leah Levane

The language and tone used by mainstream Politicians, media and other institutions has changed significantly in relation to Israel’s pummelling of Gaza.  It is harsher and far more direct, indeed since Israel broke the ceasefire agreement in March, it has been rare to find politicians who agree with Netanyahu that it is the fault of … Continued

By Leah Levane

800 UK lawyers, including, for example, 70 KCs, have written to the Prime Minister outlining action that needs to be taken, especially sanctions.  This letter omits the call for an arms embar3go since the outcome of a legal case on this is awaited but while welcoming the statement by Starmer working with the Canadian and French …

Violence on the streets on Jerusalem Day – again

By Leah Levane

As this article shows, there is so much that is wrong with the annual, “state funded” march to “celebrate” the capture of East Jerusalem in 1967. On 26th May, the march went ahead with the usual violence, the presence of government ministers, the horrendous chants “Without a Nakba, there is no victory”, “Death to Arabs” and “Jerusalem 1967, Gaza 2025″are not new. By Leah Levane

War on Women in Gaza: survival and resistance

By Leah Levane

Being a woman in Gaza: how to manage menstruation and more. And life: Mariam Khateeb writes: “I return again and again to the image of my mother during the war. Back curved on a pot, hands trembling, eyes scratching the ceiling at every noise… Her body carried the architecture of war and motherhood at the same time. Now I realize how political her fatigue was – how her work, like that of so many Palestinian women, defied the logic of annihilation.”

Dehumanisation and the morality of starving children to death

By Leah Levane

While increasing numbers of Israelis are beginning to protest against the slaughter  in Gaza, they remain nevertheless a minority. The large majority continue either to turn their eyes away from the images of horror that are so distressing the rest of the world, or applaud them in an utterly unashamed abdication of any remnants of …

The BBC needs to stop hiding reports on Gaza

By Leah Levane

When the BBC’s correspondent, Jeremy Bowen is considered “brave” for using the word genocide something is seriously amiss. There are still no plans to broadcast the documentary”Medics Under Fire” that the BBC had commissioned on the attacks on Gazan hospitals or to put back the documentary “How to survive a warzone” on iplayer that it …
