Netanyahu joins far right at campaign event for Orban (of course)

No surprise that Netanyahu is happy to speak on a platform with far right party representatives to welcome the campaign for Orban to be elected – again – as PM in Hungary. Their antisemitism (let alone their Islamophobia) make no difference. In his message to Orbán’s party, Netanyahu praised the illiberal Hungarian prime minister as a “great statesman,” citing dangerous times that “call into question everything we cherish,” and arguing they require leaders with “unrelenting tenacity, courage and wisdom to protect their country and people.”  Netanyahu clearly considers that he is another “great statesman”. We beg to differ and consider him, those who support him within and beyond Israel to be dangerous in the extreme.

Genocide in Gaza – the case against denial

Israel: Has Impunity led to wanting to oppress?

Although Jews live in greater safety in the West, there is one thing Jews cannot do in London, New York or Paris, but can do in Israel, and that is show contempt for and actively mistreat a stigmatized and subject population without fearing any negative consequences. In this respect Israel is unique in that it gives its Jewish citizens social sanction to do just that: oppress a subordinate population whose members can be abused almost ad libitum. Israel appears to many outside observers to be a society held together by a collectively chosen scapegoat.

We condemn Israel’s raid on Birzeit University

Israeli forces raid Birzeit University for the 7th time in two years; the campus was besieged with 20 military vehicles and many soldiers, smashing down the front gate and attacking the Palestinian students with not only stun grenades and tear gas but live ammunition. Multiple students are now hospitalised with grave gunshot wounds. Britain’s University and College Union have written demanding the Foreign Secretary holds Israel to account

Support the hunger strikers

We publish an update on the movement in soldiarity with the hunger striker prisoners for Palestine and Greta Thunberg.

Dozens of distinguished scholars and authors from around the world have made a declaration in solidarity with prisoners in the UK whose long detention on remand on charges relating to activism for Palestine has sparked criticism from human rights organisations and UN experts.

Mohammad Bakri: In Memoriam

Israeli-Palestinian actor Mohammad Bakri died on 24th December 2025.

He was fêted by Israel as an actor who happened to be an Arab, then reviled as an Arab who happened to tell the truth.

Adelaide Festival: paying a price for axing Palestinian voices

Over half the writers scheduled to take part in the Adelaide Festival’s Writers’ Week have withdrawn in protest at the ban on award winning novelist and academic Randa Abdel-Fattah taking part. The issue for them is that she is also an advocate for Palestinian rights

The notion that it would be insensitive to have an advocate for Palestinian freedom and justice after the dreadful antisemitic attack at Bondi Beach in December is without foundation and, indeed, conflating the two things is a dangerous path to take.

UK Lawyers for Israel rebuffed

In an important case Dr Ghassan Abu-Sittah, rector of the University of Glasgow has been cleared of misconduct by a medical watchdog over alleged antisemitism and support for Hamas.
It may have been the General Medical Council which instigated the hearing but it was UK Lawyers for Israel who incited for it in the first place.
All praise for the panel of the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service who heard the charges in a 3-day hearing. Unswayed by the general hysteria which has surrounded the case the panel dismissed them…
