The slow occupation of Syria is spreading beyond the Golan Heights and to the control by Israel-‘s military forces we now need to add incursions by settlers. In December 2024 the tyrannical Bashar al-Assad was ousted by Syrian rebels. and Israel immediately launched “a massive aerial bombardment” that destroyed nearly 80% of Syria’s military capacity.

Following the attack in a Jewish area of London we fully recognise that the fears that many Jewish people are feeling are real and need to be taken seriously and addressed as well as possible. However the weaponisation of the attack will not help keep Jews or our democracy safe, There is a need for some perspective and for some real examination of causes and what can be done to prevent further attacks rather than the kneejerk response that we have seen. The immediate designation of the attack as being terrorism is one; the call the ban the pro Palestine marches and further restrict our civil liberties is another.

In the early hours of Thursday 30th April 2026, boats from the Sumud flotilla were intercepted by Israel and at least 175 of the participants were kidnapped by that State’s forces and taken, without prior negotiation to Greece. The boats were even outside the territorial waters of Crete at the time and Crete is over 600 miles from Gaza and Israeli waters.

Lebanon has issued a 106 page report into the impact of Israel’s aggression on the environment in the country; the report does not include damage done since February 28th 2026 but relates to the period from 2023 – 2025. Lebanon’s Environment Minister, Tamara el Zein says that the physical and ecological landscape has been reshaped.

The most recent was being designated as “extremists”, a designation that they have successfully challenged in the Courts as their press release makes clear.
