“Condemning antisemitism and the weaponisation of antisemitism”

JVL Introduction

There has been intense coverage of the dreadful attack in Golders Green on 29th April and we unreservedly condemn this and the other attacks on Jewish people and institutions that have taken place. We recognise that the fears that many Jewish people are feeling are real and need to be taken seriously and addressed as well as possible.

We do call for some perspective and for some real examination of causes and what can be done to prevent further attacks rather than the kneejerk response that we have seen.  Examples include the immediate designation of the attack as being terrorism and the call the ban the pro Palestine marches and further restrict our civil liberties is another.

Here, on a facebook post, Tim Lawrence looks at how the attack is being weaponised and we consider such weaponisation to be dangerous for us all, including Jews.

(At the end he has updated his original post to note that there was another attack that same morning, this time in South London where relatively few Jews live. At that time, the first victim had not been named but subsequently we learn that he was Ishmail Hussein and he was known to the attacker.)

  • Did not a Moslem man get stabbed just prior by this same mentally ill terrorist? What does that signify? I loathe Starmer for many good reasons but why blame Starmer for this vile act of stabbing? It’s sheer fear-driven weaponisation and failure to look at how to really stop it ever happening again will exacerbate it. Is stopping it happening again at some point even possible? I do not think so really, because mentally ill terrorists exist -they exist in the UK, in Australia, in the US in Lebanon in Iran and in Israel. They exist in my home town and when something bad happens here by some disturbed and violent mind, one is made instantly to feel more vulnerable & you just feel targeted. So yes, absolutely, solidarity with the residents of Golders Green is something to be offered, and probably would be rejected,. But it must not preclude showing solidarity with the people of Gaza, because then an act of violence in Golders Green can be transformed into a weapon against Gaza.

  • What a relief to read something calm, rational and well-informed as a refreshing change from all the media bilge.

  • It is by no means only the spineless gutless politicians but the committed Zionists in the media too. The BBC being by far the worst. Trying to rest my weary back I made the mistake of tuning into the Today programme on Radio 4. Big mistake. The back pain only got worse as I listened to 15 minutes – yes a full 15 minutes- of hysterical coverage of these two stabbings. As the author of this article rightly spells out, the comparison with the total silence on other comprable crimes is utterly deplorable.

  • Strange that immediately after the stabbing, there was an immediate call for banning ‘the Hate Marches’ and more or less implying that the slogan ‘Globalize the Intifada’ caused the stabbing and the series of arson attacks on synagogue. Right at the front was Ephraim Mirvis calling for a banning of the IRGC as terrorist, when there is no clear evidence of it being linked to these antisemitic incidents. This is straight from Netanyahu’s playbook as Mirvis is an ardent Israel collaborator, who praised ‘our brave soldiers in the IDF’. In synagogues, in the prayer for the State of Israel, and its Defence Forces, is the plea to ‘protect them from all distress and anguish, and send blessing and success to all the work of their hands’, which surely includes their terror and genocidal behaviour in Gaza, the West Bank, the Naqab, and now into Lebanon, Syria, Iran, Yemen, and on the high season, as this brilliant article shows. It is surely the IDF, and the state that it defends, and the raving settler gangs in the West Bank who should be proscribed. Similar pressure from the Lobby caused the prescribing of Hsmas and Hizbollah as terrorists has allowed Israel free hand in bombing anywhere and everywhere where these terrorists were supposed to be which has given it the impunity of a genocidal maniac on the loose, aided and abetted by the US, UK and the rest. All this must be resisted, exposed and stopped by public pressure as must be the call to end the government’s assaults on Palestine Action and the whole solidarity movement.

  • Very glad to read this detailed analysis de-constructing the hysterical media reporting. I long till hear the alternative Jewish voice (JVL JSG etc) on TV, Newsnight, Today, News programmes, putting a balancing view to that of the Chief Rabbi

  • I’m sad that Zack Polanski has been forced to withdraw his sane and justice-driven comment about the police kicking this man’s head in after he’d already been tasered. I’m also worried about the Comment above designating this attacker as a terrorist when he’s clearly mad and has only just left the Maudsley hospital. Last week I had hope, when even the egregious Chief Rabbi Mirvis was calling on Netanyahu/Smotrich/BenGvir to ‘stop forcing us to defend the indefensible’…But now we are back. Only one mainstream news report that I have seen (Peston wth Medi Hassan) even mentions the essential point that British Jews have been encouraged to show total public loyalty to a genocidal regime thousands of miles away. Nonzionist Jews have been saying for year after year that this is bound to raise antisemitism. BTW I was in Golders Green today and my partner was in Stamford Hill, no one showing any signs of fear. Good, perhaps most of this community is more sensible than the designated ‘leaders’ and the servile media.

  • The reality of this attack is that it had nothing to do with religion or race. It had to do with our decaying health service. And inadequate police response to the first attack committed by this very unwell man.
Jews are not at the centre of a web of hate. Rowley is at the centre of a state conspiracy to bring society into an emergency footing, a “war” footing, a state that enables extraordinary and undemocratic measures to be taken against those who disagree with the ruling class’s aggressive wars and genocides. Those who wish to see wealth distributed more equitably to the increasingly impoverished British workers.

  • I think it’s reasonable to suspect that UK Mossad stooges had a hand in these attacks, in order to provide a justification for banning the pro-Palestine marches and to increase the likelihood of the Filton Six jury returning a conviction to spare the British state’s blushes.

  • I think this is a more accurate article than main stream media.
Yes the State are trying to pass through IGRC as a terrorists groups. Ignores that HAYI seems to point back to Israeli intelligence.
Soem brillant reporting in the past from – Declassified, The Grayzone,+972, Haaretz which seems to suggest that Israeli intelligence target vulnerable people in exchange for money, drugs etc in exchange for carrying out attacks.
Is the aim to scare the Jewish community to Israel?
Annie MAchon has stated the phenomenon of false flag attacks.
Why was this attack straight away called ‘terrorsim’ , while a mosque that was set alight with people in was not.
I fear this will cause a divide because of the language being used like ‘pandemic of antisemitism’. It seems to devalue racism, violence against women, LGBQT and transgender crimes.
2-3 women are killed each week. That is what I call a pandemic.
I think antisemitism is being weaponised by a those that do not like critique of Israel or the Pro Palestine Marches.

  • What was initially reported as deaths of two Jewish men by terrorist stabbings seems to have been the usual hyperbole. Three men were stabbed, two of whom were Jewish, none are dead. The mentally ill perpetrator was on the ground in the TV clip I saw, while on board the Calais Dover Ferry. Video from a police body cam, showed an officer of the law, kicking the the prone man in the head, at least three times in rapid succession. This is the behaviour of a thug not a properly trained police officer. It is a tactic we have seen used by American and Israeli security forces. Have we been taken over by the American Israeli Alliance? It would seem so. Yes the man had stabbed people, yes he was dangerous, that is past tense, he was on the ground on his front one arm out to the side restrained by one officer while the other had his right foot on his back before kicking him repeatedly, watched by at least two other officers one with the camera and one clearly visible on the other side of the man. Being kicked in the head often results in serious brain damage or death. Have our police turned into a death squad? Is this what we can expect from now on? How long will it be before this treatment is the standard for any arrest? We already have handcuffs used in the arrest of non violent non resistant protestors of violence used against the Palestinian civilian population. Yes two Jewish men were injured so was a Muslim man little attention has been given to that. STARMER RUSHES TO THE MEDIA ATTENTION ON THE JEWISH COMMUNITY, where he is chanted at Keir Starmer Jew harmer as if he personally wielded the knife. Instead of making the country a legitimate target by his authorisation of aeranautical survailance quickly followed by Israeli attacks on the areas flown over.

  • Excellent article, those that choose to weaponise such acts may be contributing to and making the situation worse for all

  • Mrs Rosemary Brocklehurst.
“I loathe Starmer for many good reasons but why blame Starmer for this vile act of stabbing?” He can’t be blamed directly for this vile act but he can be blamed for attemting to appease such as the Chief Rabbi when he will never be appeased however KS genuflects and bends to the wishes of the Israeli Lobby, which all builds up and ‘justifies’ the wall-to-wall publicity with first item on most broadcast channels e.g. BBC, and newspaper headlines and column yards day after day. The ‘distraught’ Mirvis also did his bit. Would such blanket coverage have been given to two Muslims in similar circumstances? Given the world’s reaction to the 75,000 Palestinians killed by Israel, the majority women and children, I don’t think so. And I trust that “——because mentally ill terrorists exist -they exist in the UK, in Australia, in the US in Lebanon in Iran and in Israel”, is not attempting to equate the seriousness, and scale of humanitarian crimes committed by those countries mentioned.
