They are still weaponising antisemitism to support Israel

JVL Introduction

This latest Double Down News Video features Mark Etkind, son of a Holocaust survivor and coordinator of the Holocaust Survivors Against Gaza Genocide Group.  He calmly dissects the position taken by those from the Jewish Establishment who claim to speak for all Jews and the media’s bias labelling the marches and other actions in support of peace and justice for Palestinians as being antisemitic. He speaks also of the horrors of the Holocaust and his father’s experiences.

You may also want to watch this Double Down  Video from August where Stephen Kapos, a child survivor of the Holocaust himself makes equally powerful points.

Holocaust Survivor son EXPOSES The REAL Israel

  • Worth having another look at Marc Ellis’s piece in Mondoweiss titled, ‘Exile and the Prophetic: The interfaith ecumenical deal is dead’ here https://mondoweiss.net/2012/11/exile-and-the-prophetic-the-interfaith-ecumenical-deal-is-dead/ He ends it with, ‘The lesson: The ultimate sin is silence in the face of injustice’.

But I wonder if what Ellis called the dialogue or deal is quite as dead as he thought. We still agree not to keep on about Christian persecution of the European Jews and its contribution to the Holocaust, while the “Christian” side lets the Jews in Israel do as they please, indeed helps them.

But the problem for the Christian side came when dissident Jews broke ranks and themselves turned critics of the Jewish state. We refused to be made complicit, thus embarrassing our gentile partners who remained so. Thus they had to punish the critics but especially the Jewish ones. Hence, expulsions, proscriptions and the rest.

It’s changing, though far too slowly. The problem is that as well as being political, economic, hegemonic and religious, the Israel question, we may call it, is also psychological and dynamically so, with all the denials, resistances, projections that come with the abandonment of long cherished ideas. And however most of us now regard Zionism, we ought to recognise that for a time within living memory it did become for many Jews such a cherished idea with semi-divine status, as Mark Etkind’s video so well shows with its Rabbi Mirvis excerpts.

We might see Zionism as a kind of time-contextually relevant post-Shoah substitute for our one God who failed us, but now seen, rightly, to have been just another failed god amongst the many others humans have left behind.

  • It’s ironic to think that hate mongering and the demonization of Jewish people paved the way for the Holocaust, and that now totally evil so called journalists dissemble outrageous lies and false hoods against protesters so as to deceive and dupe and manipulate millions of people, including British Jews. Hitler would no doubt be full of admiration. Hopefully, in the not too distant future, every single one of them will be exposed for what they are.
