Trump’s imperialism also breeds toxic antisemitism
JVL Introduction
Most of Trump’s base do not want war with Iran or their tax dollars going to Israel rather than helping to address the cost of living crisis. They believed the “no more foreign wars, I am going to end wars” rhetoric Trump repeatedly espoused. They are disillusioned and some at all levels are turning to fascist and antisemitic ideas. After all, who is getting the blame for Trump going to war? Why Israel, of course. According to some, like “former Trump loyalist Marjorie Taylor Greene…Trump has abandoned his America First posture due to the influence of the pro-Israel lobby, which has subverted his government so as to prioritise Israel, not the US.” (my emph Ed) Some prominent MAGA supporters go further and openly say that Jews are in control.
Such ideas stem from imperialism. opposition to which is crucial and will not come from the right. Trump said he wanted to end wars but he is totally committed to prioritising the interests of the Corporate class, which is why he is trying so hard to mollify the markets as his dangerous and deadly gamble is crumbling. Despite his promises to wars, he is using “might is right” tactics and rhetoric and not even succeeding and that ghastly level.
Remember, as this writer makes clear
“There is no anti-war movement led by the right.”
