Trump and Musk are carrying out a coup

The pronouncements come and thick and fast from President Trump, quite possibly to bamboozle, shock and overwhelm us in true Shock Doctrine style. According to this informative and worried substack article, also citing historians among others, it IS a coup and is probably worse than we think, especially for people living in the USA; but this will impact on us all.
Elon Musk has been given huge powers without his post or his “Department of Government Efficiency” being approved by Congress. Musk aims to reduce government spending by nearly one third and even if he is stopped from doing that – tomorrow – he already has direct access to nearly everyone’s data that he can use for his own interests., despite the obvious conflicts of interest. This is a coup without tanks and guns; a coup using modern technology that is under the control of billionaires like Musk whose wealth increased by $170bn since Trump’s election victory.
The Courts are rejecting much of what is proposed (and partially enacted) but can they keep up and if things get escalated to the Supreme Court, packed with Trump nominees (mainly from his last Presidency), what then? There seem to be no effective safeguards built in when someone is determined to ignore them.

This is what should be on every front page in 150 point banner headlines. All I have is this Substack but I lay it beneath your feet and pray to a higher power that I’m wrong.

Sadly, our British establishment is not in a position to throw stones – even if it wanted to which it apparently does not. Starmer has, some 80yrs after the leftist Popular Front against fascism, followed up lying in his leadership manifesto, by banning free speech and free association in the Labour Party, and chasing 100ks of members out of the Party, and now banning MPs from criticising him and his cronies in debate. The Morning Star quotes
“In an unprecedented injunction, the letter includes the warning that “you are not entitled to criticise the government in public.”.

I’ve read the main article attentively, and find no name-checking of either The Heritage Foundation or Project 2025. Should I go to SpecSavers? I have yet to read all of the hyperlinks…
If the present dangerous onslaught on American democracy is indeed predicated upon Project 2025 – the text of which (I also have yet to read…) has been in the public domain since April 2023 (?) – why all the shock and awe at what’s happening now? Surely the anti-Trump/anti-MAGA contingent have had enough time to get their ducks in a row? And why, oh why, did 36% of US voters not vote!?
Is this the same Carole Cadwalladr, who with the rest of her Guardian mates had no compunctions smearing both Corbyn and Assange? The very people who would have been working to genuinely protect the “rules based order”. How different the UK would have been if Corbyn was in No.10 and Wikileaks was still functioning the way it was under Assange. A bit late for this hysteria.

Carole Cadwalladr has also sought to overtly link Assange to the Kremlin. She has tweeted that “Assange & Milne… are both Russian propaganda tools”[l], that Assange is a “special friend” of Russian intelligence[li] and that Wikileaks has “colluded with…the Kremlin”[lii]. In addition, Cadwalladr has tweeted several times that “Assange was in direct communication with Russian intelligence in 2016”[liii] and that “Wikileaks sought assistance from Russian intelligence officers to disrupt the US presidential election”[liv].
Cadwalladr is here claiming that Wikileaks knowingly colluded with Russian intelligence by releasing the files on the Democratic Party in 2016: in fact, this is not known or proven at all, while numerous media outlets also published or had contacts with Guccifer 2.0 and DCLeaks in 2016 – though do not figure as targets in her attacks.
