The right-wing smear campaign against leftist Jewish satire

To understand the story that follows start with a review of Jewish cartoonist Eli Valley’s highly controversial graphic art collection, Diaspora Boy, two years ago.

As Trump “solidified his stature as the hero of American Nazism”, Valley writes, “the only course of action was to oppose these escalating horrors by every available means”.

He began drawing on Holocaust analogies as mandatory, a means of alarm and mobilization. It felt, he say, “like the most Jewish art I’d ever made.”

It caused (even more) outrage against Valley whose art was declared as antisemitic, degenerate art.

Temporarily stunned into silence, feeling as he describes it  “erased”, Valley has fought back in the only way he can, with words and graphic art of great intensity and ferocity, fuelled by the attack on him and his Jewishness.
