The Palestine double standard

JVL Introduction

Dr. Alyan, Palestinian American writer, clinical psychologist and professor in New York City, writes about how Palestinians have to beg to be treated as human.

It is the commonsense of the age: “Palestinians are presumed violent — and deserving of violence — until proved otherwise.”

As the writer of a novel about Palestine, Alyan was often told that he had “humanised” the Palestinians.

What, he wonders, had they been before?

“There is nothing complicated about asking for freedom. Palestinians deserve equal rights, equal access to resources, equal access to fair elections and so forth. If this makes you uneasy, then you must ask yourself why.”

  • Fortunate that a small number of Labour notables – MPs, mayors, councillors – have started to distance themselves (not enough, not even denunciation…analysis…action) from Starmer’s “Zionist, no ifs no buts” endorsement and encouragement of the Israeli ongoing genocide. This is support for terrorism, no ifs, no buts – an offence under current English law and police practice. The leader speaks for the membership these days, so all LP members who fail publicly to dissociate themselves from KS’s terrorist offences and complicit with that offence. Branch, CLP, Regional Board, NEC, Conference meetings in Belmarsh high security gaol?
