Latest UN report on Palestine is damning

The June report by UN Special Rapporteur on Palestine, Francesca Albanese, is devastating, as Jeff Wright makes clear in this article.

Wright highlights Albanese’s emphasis on surveillance – on the many physical, bureaucratic, military, and means which enable Israel’s “arbitrary seizure of land and Palestinians’ forcible displacement”.

For her, it is clear that: “These offenses appear to be part of a plan to de-Palestinianize the territory. They threaten the existence of the Palestinians as a people, as a national cohesive group.”

All the while the West turns a blind eye to Israel’s increasingly vice-like grip on the occupied territories. We get nothing from our politicians – most of Labour included.

Only civil society can make a difference and solidarity with the Palestinians is more needed than ever.
