EU ‘double standard’ on Palestine, Ukraine
JVL Introduction
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has been gung-ho in her uncritical support for Israel, despite its open intention to destroy Gaza and ignore international law.
Her willingness to support war crimes contrasts sharply with her and the EU’s support for Ukraine and her – correct – condemnation of the destruction of civilian infrastructure there a year ago.
Pressure must be mounted to force the EU to reverse its position. It already invites contempt for its double standards.
The EU risks being utterly discredited as any kind of mediator or honest broker in the future.

There’s no contradiction in the EU position on Ukraine and Palestine. The EU will always support imperialism, particularly if it has a neo-fascist tinge. Its position on Niger, Venezuela and other countries that dare resist neo-colonialism is much the same. The EU is little more than an outgrowth of US hegemony. I speak as someone who lives in France and can see it from the inside. Macron is destroying this country on behalf of his US and EU masters.
