The International Criminal Court (ICC) investigates and, where warranted, tries individuals charged with the gravest crimes of concern to the international community: genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity and the crime of aggression.
As CJ Werleman reports, Prime Minister Boris Johnson told Conservative Friends of Israel that he respects the independence of the International Criminal Court.
The Court is committed to taking a stand against those who, in the past, would have had no one to answer to after committing widespread, systematic international crimes. It wants to end impunity.
Johnson is not so committed to that, however.
He also said he could not support the ICC’s investigation into possible war crimes committed by Israel in the occupied Palestinian Territories because it was a “partial and prejudicial attack on a friend and ally of the UK”.
The unmistakeable inference is that war crimes are OK – if committed by your friends.

As disgusting as this is, Johnson is at least being consistent. http://www.goodlawproject.org is at the forefront of taking this government to court over lawbreaking while Johnson, Cummings and Hancock’s mates have been making millions on shoddy covid 19 related contracts.
Not only does the Israeli Lobby have its claws wrapped around the Tory Party but it now has a stranglehold on the Labour Party.
Keir Starmer took £50.000 from Trevor Chinn a well known Israeli Lobbyist and since becoming Leader of the Party, he has attacked the Left members, who historically support the Palestinian cause, hundreds of them being suspended, including many Jews who also condemn Israel’s behaviour towards the Palestinians. Starmer has put more effort into stopping criticism of Israel, than opposing the corrupt Tories.

We are watching the systemic destruction of Palestine and the Palestinians before our very eyes, it sickens me to my heart, stomach and my soul. I want peace in Palestine and in israel, that means israel handing back the illegally occupied lands, facing up to its crimes just to start with. Not just Israel to face up to its crimes, they all must, and right now!
