The EHRC Report – critical evaluations / 3

JVL Introduction

Many interesting analyses of the EHRC Report are being produced and we will be reposting a selection.

Doing so does not imply that we endorse all the points made in these analyses but, in our view, all add important insights.

The third reposting is of Daniel Finn’s long analysis in Jacobin where he has published many articles on developments in the Labour Party and the left in recent years.

This article was originally published by Jacobin on Fri 30 Oct 2020. Read the original here.

The Labour Antisemitism Report Has Always Been a Politically Motivated Travesty

  • Excellent journalism, keep highlighting the truth. These facts should be widely discussed so the public get a true picture of what is actually going on.some members of the public do not have access to the internet or TV so in that case cannot search for the truth via those platforms.Thats where Corbyn came in he told the truth directly to the public,he’s so honest.

  • Wonderful analysis, and ending on the truth about Jeremy Corbyn et al.’s appeasement of his accusers. I really hope that JVL will follow Finn’s lead and not pull its punches.

  • Daniel Finn’s piece is superb and completely correct. Urgently needs wide distribution as a leaflet. The best riposte to the campaign against the Corbyn leadership I have yet read. TOO IMPORTANT TO JUST SIT HERE ON JVL.

  • I am so grateful for this very informative, yet so succinct, description of the events around the ‘antisemitism’ issue. I only wish the public knew the truth instead of always being led so aggressively by the Tory media. But sadly it seems to me that people will believe what they want to believe, or should I say what they feel is favourable to them, and to hell with the truth.

  • I repeat this statement from a leading Nazi as often as I can!
“The people are dull, they are sheep and will believe what they are told.” No way do I admire the Nazis but in this instance they had a point. Far to often people do simply “believe what they are told” and will repeat parrot like what the media tells them. Relying on this mental laziness and the public`s inability to think for themselves, the media churn out exactly what they have decided the public must think. This propaganda method has been cynically employed as long as I can remember and I have been observing British media in all its poisonous glory for fifty years.
But it is possible to effectively debunk those who obediently repeat the worn out mantra that antisemitism apparently BEGAN in Labour (and Corbyn) in 2015. We must ask how it could it be that UNTIL 2015 not one hint or slightest murmur of A.S. was aimed at either Corbyn or the Labour Party? How nonsensical is it to expect us to believe that Corbyn abruptly abandoned the principals of a lifetime to transform himself into a seething antisemitic? Yet this tripe was served up to the believers and meekly consumed.
Although I support Corbyn I did not agree with the appeasement of his detractors. As has been mentioned by many others this conciliatory approach opened the way to even more vicious encroachment. This lack of robust commitment to the truth has to end! There should be no more “admissions” that “Oh well Labour has a problem with antisemitism”. Labour has exactly the same “problem with antisemitism” as all the rest of the country, no more, and probably less! To suggest otherwise is to bow to compromised media insinuations. I have gathered much evidence to support my statements, I hope that others will ask rigorous questions and arrive at similar conclusions! I am not a media outlet I do not demand to be believed I only ask that others do not allow themselves to be pressurized into accepting anything other than the truth.
