The architecture of genocidal starvation

What follow are extracts from Forensic Architecture’s latest publication The architecture of genocidal starvation.

Indeed they are just extracts from the summary, the report itself being a magisterial 161 pages long.

The summary is full of maps which we have not been able to reproduce here, but the story is nonetheless clear below.

Israel has dismantled the civilian model of aid distribution, replacing it with a military one to further its strategic military and political objectives.

The military model

• contributes to the forced displacement and re-concentration of the civilian population;
• makes reaching aid dangerous and deadly; and
• undermines civil order and dismantles the social fabric.

We would add that the Genocide convention is explicit : “intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group” is central to it.

WE defy anyone to read the Forensic Architecture Report and not conclude that Israel’s intent in this matter is clear.

As the title has it, this is the architecture of genocidal starvation.
