Considering the genocide – architecturally

JVL Introduction

Owen Jones’ interview with Eyal Weizman, founder of Forensic Architecture is highly recommended as is Martin Shaw’s essay on “The Future of Israel’s “Ungrounding” Genocide: Crippling and/or Expelling? posted here below the video.*

The video is of a detailed discussion about what Israel is doing in Gaza, the genocide convention and its recognition of the ways in which destruction of our environment, including our physical and cultural infrastructure, is all part of the genocide and, indeed, the continuity of the Nakba and that this has been happening since (at least) 1948, at different times slowly and at others speedily.  Now we are also seeing the destruction of the topography of the land and so much more.

*(This is the first part of his new series on Israeli genocide.  In that piece Shaw discusses Israel’s aims re Gaza taking what is contained in Weizman’s book alongside insights from Raphael Lemkin who introduce the concept of “genocide and also of Gideon Levy’s latest warning. which we publish separately). Shaw’s essay is the first in a series.
