Israel has made itself a pariah state

JVL Introduction

In every country in the world, people are on the streets again and again in solidarity with the people of Palestine, opposing the genocide and the ongoing occupation.  Boycotts and other actions are becoming more widespread and, finally, some of our western political leaders are catching up with the people.  Now, even openly pro Israel politicians like  Ursula Von der Leyen says Israel’s actions in Gaza warrant (some) sanctions;  something has (finally) shifted.  These and other government acts show  “that Israel is gradually losing legitimacy around the world, being placed in a group that includes other reviled pariah states. Even its oldest, most loyal friends are finding it increasingly uncomfortable to be associated with it.”

We may feel it is (still) too little and too late but things are turning and this article also points to the fact that accusing Israel’s critics of antisemitism is having less and less impact.  The tide is turning and Israel has only itself to blame.

The World Is Setting a Price for Israel's War in Gaza

  • It is astonishing and unbelievable (but I am going to believe it) that an Israeli newspaper forcefully articulates the growing opposition to Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
Haaretz – unlike absolutely every mainstream media outlet in the UK – gives true picture of the insanely violent assault on the Palestinian people.

  • Two years ago, post anything in support of Palestine and you got called terrorist, anti-Semitic, usually both.

Now you get 99% support and a lone voice about how it all started on Oct 7th. The tide is not turning, it has surged into a people tsunami for Palestine.

The people tsunami may have started as a ripple, but as it travels the world, it gathers people, power, pace and momentum.

Politicians should know they must change, or be thrust aside by the unstoppable force of pure humanity, that supports the people of Palestine.

  • Sadly Israel had an opportunity to be a Dubai. Now it will be lucky to survive the next 5 years as a nation. My heart bleeds for the real Jewish people I was brought up with , the first generation after the war on Zimbabwe who are appalled and tainted by the events unfolding.

  • They are putting on a front but basically holding fire until Netanyahu has achieved his goals; land theft, genocide and ethnic cleansing.

  • I used to admire the Jewish people for their intelligence and hard work. I was shocked, and sympathetic like everyone else, to learn about the Holocaust. But, thanks to the psychopaths now governing Israel, admiration has changed to despair and anger that they can be so misled by a handful of terrorist Zionists. Shame on Israel!

  • honestly I never gave Israel a lot of thought. As long as it was relatively quiet over there it felt ok. Certainly there were some terrible suicide bombings, but not much ever said about the daily lives of Palestinians and what they had to endure from the Israelis on a daily basis. Since the attack on Oct 7 and Israel’s over the top response for the last 2 years I have learned so much about some of the history of the situation. I can’t imagine wanting to live there. We have a lot of crap in America but at least we don’t generally live in fear enough to need a “safe” room in our homes. How could they possibly think they can destroy a whole group of people, destroy their livelihoods and homes and those people and their friends and relatives will “forget”. They thought they could bury us but they didn’t know we were seeds (not my quote).
