Some antisemite, that Zohran! – ‘AIPAC Radicalized Me’
JVL Introduction
As MJ Rosenberg wrote on his blog when reposting extracts from the interview below: “Some antisemite, that Zohran!”
It turns out that Mamdani’s key strategist is a 26-year old Jewish New York activist Morris Katz
Mamdani represents the consolidation of a new politics. It is about many things, Israel amongst them
In Katz’s words:
“You cannot tell the general public who have seen what’s happening in Gaza to not believe what they’re seeing with their own eyes…”
“The kind of cynical strategy of [Mamdani opponent Andrew] Cuomo, the weaponization of antisemitism and the Jewish community that he tried to deploy here [and] was rejected by a lot of Jews of all ages but particularly a younger generation of Jewish New Yorkers.”
And again:
“There are a lot of young American Jews who value the lives of Israelis and Palestinians equally, who do not believe that war crimes are ever justified, who do not believe that a defence of Israel is a right to undermine elections or to embrace Islamophobia or to spend years in an aimless war.”
Who is to gainsay that?

Katz identifies “the main accelerator that radicalized me” – the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, more commonly known as AIPAC.
This is not unlike my own journey thru 24 troubling years in the Labour Party.
For years I was always an intuitive supporter of the Palestinian cause and was always questioning Israel’s role as an Apartheid State.
To my shame I never campaigned seriously for Palestine and was too easily led down the narrative about Israel’s “right to defend itself”, etc.
So – The main accelerator that opened my eyes was the clearly-bogus campaign against anti-Semitism that was used to put the knife into Jeremy Corbyn.
The blatant dishonesty and the defamatory campaigning against JC and in favour of Apartheid Israel quickly brought me into activism with Palestine Solidarity and JVL.
The “ten pledges” used by the Board of Deputies of British Jews to bully the candidates for the Labour leadership and deputy-leadership elections was the light-bulb moment for me that cemented my lasting support for Palestine and my identification of the Zionist State as an international pariah – Never to be forgiven and never to be forgotten.
A interesting article but was it the original “article . . . published by Haaretz on Tue 25 Nov 2025.” . . ?
There’s a big chunk in it, a couple of paragraphs” which may be the result of someone cutting and pasting something twice.
However in the last paragraph the phrase “Jewish values” is used three times and it end with “the values we preach”.
One reads elsewhere of ‘American Values’ or here in the UK of ‘British values’.
As an 81 year old white English/British male my hackles rise when I hear the phrase ‘British values’. I recognise the values at the core of my thinking to be Human values with love and kindness at their core: I don’t believe that these values are unique to any particular ‘race’, ‘ethnicity’ or ‘culture’.
duplicate text deleted – thanks for the heads up
This gives me hope that we are still human beings
I support Zohran Mamdani because of his incredible politics, and his father’s, not because I’m Jewish, damn it!!
You know Mamdani’s politics are indistinguishable from Trump’s when it comes to support for the US gangster regimes targeting of socialist countries right ? In a recent interview, he states “Im not reluctant” in response to being asked if hes reluctant to call the leaders of Cuba and Venezuela dictators, and then goes on to refer to Maduro’s governments as “one of repression” and claims that Cuban and Venezuelan New Yorkers have had to “live through repression”.
