Palestinian documentary wins Emmy despite censorship attempts

Twenty-five year old Bisan Owda has faced down attempts by a pro-Israel organisation to deny her an Emmy award for her short film nomination in the Outstanding Hard News Feature Story category.
The eight-minute documentary follows Owda’s journey as she is forced to leave her home in Gaza City after October 7 and is displaced several times amidst Israel’s ongoing genocidal war on the Strip.

The 150 so-called ‘entertainment industry leaders’ who sought to suppress this courageous witness to a new genocide have succeeded only in ensuring that their own names will live on in infamy in humanity’s archives of the banality of evil. Let us hope that their failure will discourage emulation by others.
On the subject of Palestine documentaries, you should watch a film entitled “Storyville: Five Broken Cameras” broadcast on BBC4 last Wednesday and now on BBCiplayer.
The film was shot and narrated by a villager on the West Bank some years ago and tells the story of how his village fought back against settlers stealing their land with the help of the IDF. It is both horrifying and uplifting.
It’s worth 90 minutes of your time.
No-one being left to keep us informed is probably the Israeli plan!
