JVL Introduction

On 8th August we published Jews – Rebel. Now!!!, a howl of outrage and passionate plea from Avrum Burg, former head of the Jewish Agency and speaker of the Israeli Knesset.

Burg has now followed this up by producing a statement and list of demands on governments to rein Israel in.

In the open letter for signature Burg writes:

“We deplore the fact that Israeli leaders have repeatedly taken to the world stage to declare that these actions are being committed in the name of the Jewish people, as a manifestation of Jewish destiny. This affront to our collective consciousness cannot stand, it must be challenged. These are not Jewish values nor the lessons we draw from our peoples’ history. Very often we see in those standing up for Palestinian rights a reflection of the people who stood with Jews in our times of need.”
