Join the campaign against proscribing Palestine Action!
JVL Introduction
Defenders of civil liberties and the right to protest are rallying in opposition to the UK government’s plan to proscribe Palestine Action under anti-terror legislation.
As explained in the article we republish below from Tribune Magazine, Home Secretary Yvette Cooper’s shocking announcement on June 20, would, “if enacted … place Palestine Action — a non-violent group that engages in property damage but has never incited physical harm — in the same legal category as ISIS, al-Qaeda and neo-Nazi gangs.”
Liberty says “this move from Home Secretary Yvetter Cooper sets a dangerous precedent for protest groups and our democracy. Proscribing Palestine Action as a terrorist group may also have huge implications for thousands of people who campaign for Palestine.”
Hundreds of academics have signed an open letter of protest.
Palestine Action has instructed lawyers to fight proscription of the movement. Find out more and donate HERE.
Palestine Solidarity Campaign has thrown its weight behind efforts to block proscription with a petition and this e-tool aimed at Members of Parliament.
Pal Action’s film To Kill a War Machine is available to buy (£12) for home viewing or to share to wider audiences now.

An Attack on Palestine Action is an Attack on You
The government’s move to ban Palestine Action under the Terrorism Act is due to their effectiveness in disrupting genocide — and erodes the basis for dissent that all democratic societies need.

We are approaching a watershed in Starmer’s attack on basic democratic rights. The use of proscription to outlaw support for Palestine may backfire if we are tactically clever.
As people will know I am facing charges under the Terrorism Act for ‘inviting support for a proscribed organisation’ Hamas which is outrageous enough. But now the ogre of ‘domestic terrorism’ is being created out of a peaceful direct action group.
If Asquith had been of the same ilk as Starmer, and he was bad enough, the Suffragettes would have been proscribed, along with the Chartists and Levellers amongst others.
How do we combat this and at the same time bring the whole proscription exercise to a halt and discredit it? THe clue is in the slogan ‘We are all Palestine Action’. It is essential that thousands of people sign up to statements that specifically state that we support and will continue to support Palestine Action.
The law on proscription must be brought into disrepute and ridiculed. THey can’t charge thousands of people and if they single out a few that will be self evidently persecution. See

“The anonymous Home Office briefing about Iran came two days after the advocacy group We Believe in Israel tweeted: “Behind Palestine Action’s theatre of resistance stands a darker puppeteer: the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps … Palestine Action is the mask. The IRGC is the face.”
The only evidence it provided was saying that the IRGC’s vocabulary “echoes in Palestine Action’s slogans”.
We Believe in Israel launched a campaign to ban Palestine Action this month and language from a report it published was similar to that used by Cooper in her statement.”
