Is this the end of free speech?

Palestine Action’s likely proscription under draconian terrorism legislation is important on many levels, not only for the right to protest and to take direct action but potentially for the right to free speech for us all.

Disgreeing with the aims and/or tactics of Palestine Action does not make them terrorists.  Here the Guardian’s Legal Correspondent interviews Huda Ammori, the founder of Palestine Action, highlighting some dangers if this goes through and raising some questions about those who have been lobbying for it to happen.  As George Monbiot points out in his video for Double Down News, many of the movements that have helped to change society have used direct action; these include the suffragettes who, more than 100 years later, are lauded by the same Home Secretary who aims to proscribe Palestine Action.

  • Starmer’s government is just continuing with the ban on free speech which got a great many of us kicked out of the LP, or forced us to leave in frustration at the ban on doing anything to help with stopping the Genocide in Palestine. The Labour Movement as a whole is much poorer now for the loss of the many Jewish Activists, accused of antisemitism who were expelled from the LP because they refused to support Israel in their murderous activities.
