Israel, Gaza, Germany and the genocide in Namibia

JVL Introduction

Al Jazeera explains that its “History Illustrated” is “a weekly series of insightful perspectives that puts news events and current affairs into historical context using graphics generated with artificial intelligence.”

We have reported on Namibia’s support for South Africa’s case at the ICJ and its outage at Germany’s uncritical support for Israel’s war on Gaza.

Here that story is told is ten compelling graphic images, concluding:

“So today, we have Germany, having historically atoned for not one but two genocides, now defending Israel as it stands accused of committing its own genocide. The irony is surely not lost on the Namibians.”

  • Thank you Namibia for informing me on this issue which was new to me. No wonder Namibia reacted as it did to Germany’s incomprehensible support of Israel in this current genocide. The optimism I take (hard as it is given the horror of Isràel’s assault) is that countries of the world are standing up against the previously all powerful USA/Israel/Western Europe alliance.

  • Actually, this is not the half of it. Germany also exterminated up to 300,000 people in colonial Tanzania.
During their time as colonial masters in Rwanda, Germany laid the groundwork for the genocide. They favoured one ethnic group as an administrative class on the basis of supposed ‘gentler more European features’. Catholic territorial interests sided with the other group. Thereby stoking the ethnic hatred between the two.
Namibia was used as model for the Nazis. Eugen Fischer who presided over human experimentation in Namibia returned to Germany to sterilize Black mixed-race boys. His methods were later used in the death camps on Jews and others. Here mentioned in JVL reposting of my article below.
