CAA charitable status called into question yet again

The Charity Commission has agreed to look into a new example of political partisanship from the Campaign Against Antisemitism.
As reported in The Guardian, John McDonnell MP told the commission of concerns he shared with eminent human rights lawyer Sir Geoffrey Bindman, about CAA statements in September attacking the UK government and attorney general over policy on arms sales to Israel. McDonnell’s letter said that given the CAA’s claim to be ‘a volunteer-led charity dedicated to exposing and countering antisemitism”, the Charity Commission “should consider afresh” whether its actions violate its charitable status.
Disappointingly the commission seems to have no inclination to deal with many other complaints about the CAA’s behaviour. Its reply to McDonnell said: “The new assessment is solely focused on the charity’s September 2024 website statement.”
As the Morning Star reports (full text below the Guardian article), JVL has repeatedly called on the commission to revoke the CAA’s charitable status because of evidence that it is a highly politically partisan organisation responsible for defamatory attacks on Jeremy Corbyn and other supporters of Palestinian rights. “What’s happening with their sort of conflation of criticism of Israel and antisemitism is that it … fuels anti-semitism,” JVL co-chair Jenny Manson told the Morning Star.

The Campaign Against Antisemitism is clearly a Zionist political organisation. It is altogether wrong that the CAA is allowed to also be a charity.
Good! Hope the CC will finally consider my submission on UKLFI “charitable Trust”. I’m about to submit a piece about the attack on Khan and the ICC, led by Turner, the CEO of the Trust. He compares the ICC to the Inquisition.
Cold as charity and that’s very chilly – my father 1893-1975 always made this comment when the subject of charity arose. There is nothing remotely charitable on any level about the CAA. It goes beyond a mere misnomer and amounts to an abuse of language and a sad distortion of the facts and bryond facts to eternal verities. Obscene is le not juste in this case and charitable status which should never have been granted must be withdrawn.
The Charity Commission knows damn well that it’s a propaganda outfit!
