Aipac taken to task

A few days ago we carried a story AIPAC accuses ‘Radicals in the Democratic Party’ of promoting antisemitism – then apologises.
Now, one of the Representatives in Congress, Minnesota Democrat Betty McCollum, whose image Aipac used in its ad, has hit back strongly, describing Aipac as a ‘Hate group’.
Particularly objectionable was its inclusion of this sentence: “It’s critical that we protect our Israeli allies especially as they face threats from Iran, Hamas, Hezbollah, ISIS and – maybe more sinister – right here in the U.S. Congress.”
To which McCollum responded: “AIPAC’s language is intended to demonize, not elevate a policy debate. Vile attacks such as this may be commonplace in the Trump era, but they should never be normalized. Hate speech is intentionally destructive and dehumanizing, which is why it is used as a weapon by groups with a stake in profiting from oppression.”

I suspect that if Betty McCollum was in the Labour Party it would have just suspended her. This underlines the abject failure of the Labour Party in dealing with the antisemitism allegations. Apologise to a bully and they will bully you harder. Stand up to a bully and they run away,

Wow, Aipac a ‘hate organisation’ .. I wonder if any of them will stop and think.. “oh yes maybe we are the haters ?… Damn!”
