Blair’s colonial “plan” for Gaza excludes Palestinians
JVL Introduction
This shocking, if unsurprising “plan” has no place for Palestinians in steering its future. An International Board would be set up, almost certainly with Tony Blair as the Chair and none of the people likely to be put forward are Palestinian. The aim would be that, at some undefined point in the future , the reins would be handed to the Palestine Authority. A body that has no credibility at all, that has collaborated with Israel’s security forces to clamp down on protest and yet it has failed to stop one settlement being built, one house demolition, one killing or one arrest even when, as under adminstrative detention, there is no charge.
Rather than, eg those who have kept as much as possible operating in Gaza, even clearing roads and streets of rubble, are clearly considered unworthy or contributing to building Gaza’s future. Instead, those being proposed for this Board are business people from other countries, including quite possibly, someone involved in the misnamed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. They will not even be based in Gaza until the third year at the earliest. There seems to be no place for Palestinian autonomy, Palestinian security or Palestinian self-determination? This is a colonial approach that infantalises Palestinians when it does not dehumanise them.

Draft of Tony Blair's Gaza Plan Outlines Remote Governance, Little Palestinian Representation
Haaretz reveals the full document proposed by the former prime minister of the United Kingdom for a postwar Gaza Strip: A regime run by affluent foreigners with Palestinian executives at the bottom

Is anybody surprised by any of this? Blair has always been a bureaucrat, despite his railing against bureaucracy, and his wanting to Gaza to be managed rather than to be governed, added to his never-failing support of Israel, makes a scheme like this inevitable. It’s just another way of subjugating the Gazans rather than letting them decide their own future. Their exclusion from the most vital and sensitive aspects of this discussion proves that.
Horrendous. This must not be allowed to happen. Palestinians are the only people who should say what happens when peace finally is negotiated.
Imperialism is rarely more naked than this !
I find it depressing that the 2 most evilly corrupt PMs In Modern UK History have been “Labour” leaders.. Though BOTH Have been EVERYTHING the Labour Party was founded to fight AGAINST. It proves the power of the Establishment & MSM to brainwash the population into believing these corrupt self serving liars were working ” for the people “.. If I could see RIGHT THROUGH them & wasn’t fooled for one second how did so many fall for the propaganda.. And how did so many fall for the lies against Corbyn .. It beggars belief ..
I feel sick. It’s what’s been planned all along.. it’s time we said no more to these psychopaths sociopaths and narcissists they do not govern in my name
The plan totally sidelines Palestinian democratic rights, any plan would need to guarantee self-determination, accountability, and participation at every stage, putting Palestinians in the driver’s seat, with international actors only in supporting roles and whilst this may lead to a free Palestine the genocidal Israeli government will be doing anything to stop it happening.
We are back to the League of Nations mandate for Britain. That colonial policy was not even adhered to by Britain then.
As Marx opined, ‘history repeated as tragedy’.
How much will the political thief Blair be paid?
Hands off Gaza. The PA needs to be either a) dissolved or b) reformed. Its also not down to the likes of Blair or any Western leaders to determine how Palestine is governed.
If the PA have any integrity, they won’t go along with this imperialist plan. We dont want a compradors in Palestine.
Looks like a business enterprise. No mention of how to deal with the ecocide committed in Gaza. No motion of the health support all Gazans are in need of (health insurance companies?) No mention of expert Palestinian voices like Hanan Ashrawi. No mention of of the Palestinian potential leader, Marwan Barghoiuti. A project that seeks to silence and gag the Palestinian voice is doomed to failure. That is not how it works as we learned from Northern Ireland and South Africa. No reconciliation. It is based on the tried and tested failure of might is right, very colonial and unrepresentative. Do they suppose a suppressed people can be suppressed forever. Gaza will still be the largest open prison.
This such a load of baloney, the ultimate in colonialism and imperialism. To have Tony Blair at the head if this, despite him being responsible for the illegal war of aggression on Iraq and thus a war criminal who should have been tried at the Hague, and who spent eight years as a thoroughly useless head of the Quartet, luxuriating in the top floor suite at the American Colony Hotel making deals with the Gulf States that made him a multi millionaire is a cruel joke. Israel not Hamas should be purged and excluded from Gaza and the whole of the OPTS and declared a terror entity and all its leaders and army involved in the genocide subjected to a Nuremberg type trial, with Israeland all the complicit arms suppliers made to pay trillions in reparations and compensation for the genocide and total destruction of Gaza and its reconstruction. The Palestinians must be allowed to take the reins, have elections and choose their own leaders who, together with UN aid and institutions wil govern Gaza and all the OPTS under international and humanitarian law etc etc
When they finally become almost human, his satanic majesty will perhaps deign to grant them some kind of partial, token control over their land. And millions of liberals nod in wise understanding agreement.
I think people need to raise the issue of what the hell Zionists would have us believe anti-Zionists are getting out of it. Their careers destroyed, to be displaced by opportunist incompetents, and smeared very publicly as incarnations of the worst people in history. So what’s in it for them? As if criticism of Israel is some ecstatic cult, in joyous communion with the devil every night. There is nothing in criticism of Israel that benefits the critic. The evidence for this is gigantic, it’s everywhere, so many have so many horrifying stories to tell. I think we need to start asking people what the hell they think we get out of it. Maybe then they will wonder what the deal is for the other side. If they have any confidence or empathy, that is, traits increasingly seen as something losers are afflicted with.
Cathy Davies states “I find it depressing that the 2 most evilly corrupt PMs In Modern UK History have been “Labour” leaders”
And what can you conclude from that ?
She then says “though BOTH Have been EVERYTHING the Labour Party was founded to fight AGAINST” but doesn’t elaborate – please, can you, or anyone else, tell us what it was they were supposed to be against ?
And then goes on to say “it proves the power of the Establishment & MSM” but fails to tell us how every Labour leader, including Jeremy Corbyn, has been/is a part of that, even if hes not their favourite. The reality is of course, Starmer is the continuity candidate for Labour.
What can people conclude about the Labour Party in regards to how they couldn’t even cope with a soft social democrat like JC leading it ?
“And how did so many fall for the lies against Corbyn .. It beggars belief ”
Maybe the fact that leftist spokespeople like Noravirous Media gave credence to the smears, and Jeremy not really putting up a fight and his throwing under the bus of colleagues.
I do agree fundamentally with Cathy Davies. Yes, it is depressing that these two PMs are “Labour”. However, Cameron (2003) or Johnson and Sunak (2024-5) wouldn’t have performed any differently.
‘I am shocked by this morning’s attacks by Hamas terrorists … Israel has an absolute right to defend itself.’ (Sunak, 7/10/23).
The longer-term problem is that the subservient UK doesn’t really have an independent foreign policy.
Here we are again. Rich, powerful, corporate business narrow focus, purported to sort out what is essentially a moral, justice, and freedom issue. Once USA, Blair , and the UK government by silence and association, get their feet under the table there will indeed be riches to harvest. But how many apples will fall on the side of the Palestinian side of the fence ? As the saying goes “the more things change the more they stay the same.” When, O when, will Israel and the West come to accept that the Palestinians are not objects to do things to, but a people to work with and for?
on the Palestinian side?
