Was there ever liberal zionism for Palestinians?

Gideon Levy in fine, fluid, frightening and furious form in his opinion piece about the appointment, as Head of the Shin Bet, of Major General David Zini who believes that Israel is in a permanent war with Palestinians.  An extremist heading up an organisation that has always treated Palestinians appallingly.  Levy argues that Liberals’ concerns about Zini  are more about what he may now do to them than what the organisation has always done to the Palestinians.

However great the threat to liberals and the so called “democracy” in Israel, and as more and more liberal supporters of Israel are raising their voices against this heinous Israeli government, Levy reminds us all that, for Palestinians, there is  little difference.
