Video: Activists and journalists testify on abuse of terror legislation
We’re seeing a frightening wave of repression in the UK against activists and journalists, particularly those working in solidarity with Palestine.
The video below, published on Tony Greenstein’s blog, shows testimony from a number of those subjected to intimidating raids by police citing counter terrorism legislation, speaking at a webinar on November 22 . You don’t have to agree with every word they say to unreservedly uphold their right – our right! – to speak out against an ongoing genocide and the government’s refusal to name it for what it is.
As one of those affected, Sarah Wilkinson says, the police claim they are combatting terror, but they themselves are using terror tactics, trashing people’s homes, confiscating personal possessions including communications devices, seizing important documentation, sowing fear and creating a climate in which people will be cowed into silence.
An organisation at risk because of the state crackdown is Palestine Action, one of whose founders, Richard Barnard urgently needs to raise funds for his legal defence against terrorism charges. Contribute to his crowdfunder here.
