‘This was a lawsuit from Israel against all activists’
JVL Introduction
Lawfare – the attempted use of the law to intimidate critics of Israel’s illegal and immoral policies and actions – got its comeuppance in a case in California earlier this month.
In 2018, Palestinian-American activist Suhair Nafal made a Facebook post that included a photo of Rebecca Rumshiskaya an American who had gone to Israel and become an IDF instructor.
Rumshiskaya duly launched a $6 million defamation lawsuit.
The attorney involved in defending the case was clear: “This was an Israeli initiative, by an enterprise that wants to silence activists, filed in hope of establishing a precedent.”
It didn’t.
Not that that will stop the pro-Israel hasbaristas (propagandists), but hopefully it will give them pause for thought…

Brilliant result in the Californian court.
At least someone stands up for freedom of speech. I wonder if that were possible in this country, but I doubt it considering all these policies that are eroding our human rights in the UK.
Well done Nafal ! You have succeeded in establishing a precedent in law. They are running rife in the U.K. trying to silence the Universities throughout. To me , the power in people is stronger than the people in power. Thank goodness that justice, truth and intelligence prevailed in this instance. I will never stop fighting for justice especially for the Palestinians and their country; freedom, dignity and human right against the oppressed throughout the world. The Oppressor must be exposed .
