Support Israeli resisters
JVL Introduction
In the latest Refuser Solidarity Network mailing Tal Marom, the new international solidarity coordinator, writes about those resisting military service, “not just opposing Israel’s daily massacres in Gaza, but a regime that affects all people between the river and the sea”.
They are making the connexions between the war “over there” and political persecution on an unprecedented scale inside Israel.
Refusal, for them, “is not a circumscribed response, it’s a rejection of the entire state of affairs that connects all people living from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea”.
Support their network and, while you are here, sign the petition calling on Keir Starmer and David Lammy to impose an embargo on arms sales to Israel.

In the centre of the evil cauldron of Zionist bigotry, fascism and race hate, these young Refusers deserve support for their brave stance and continued belief in justice across the whole of the occupied territories. In a society which treats them as self-hating Jews, traitors and de facto supporters of Hamas; as young people risking alienation from their own families and friends for saying no to the occupation and serving in the most immoral army in the world, they deserve all our support. In the past, they have requested letters of support for refusers in Israeli Prisons. Even this strengthens their resolve. All power to them.
Words I cling to from Tal’s article are “together, we can .. STRENGTHEN the growing number of Israelis refusing to take part in war and occupation”.
It’s greatly encouraging that Tal thinks MORE Israelis – including some with influence over government administration, the IDF, etc? – are now self-liberating themselves from the ugly ideas and values drummed into them unrelentingly since childhood.
The kind of new thinking that NOTICES how disgusting it is to describe killing other people as “mowing the lawn” is so very hard to do – and so very important. There won’t be a just and lasting peace until the stronger side care enough about stopping the carnage to accept the costs they’ll inevitably pay for it.
