Secret Israeli dossier provides no proof for declaring Palestinian NGOs ‘terrorists’
JVL Introduction
An article from +972 below shows that no real evidence has been produced to justify labeling 6 Palestinian human rights organisations as terrorist (see our earlier reports here and here).
Even more bizarre -– and showing how seriously we should take the Israel government allegations – Ha’aretz reports that, up to this point in time, “The NGOs Israel Designated as Terror Groups Remain Legal in the West Bank“!
A security source told Haaretz that the main objective of labeling them as terrorist organisations was to hamper their fundraising.
Thus the light unto nations, the beacon of democracy in the Middle East…
This callous abuse of language, throwing accusations of terrorism around like confetti is manifestly a weapon of oppression, to tarnish the reputations and ability to function of some of the most important groupings in Palestinian civil society.
Their crime? They attempt to hold the Israeli government to account for its illegal occupation and its crimes.
____________
7 Nov: the Israeli government has declared these groups to be “terrorist groups” in the West Bank as well – two weeks after having identified them as so terribly dangerous, but only within Israel (whatever its borders are now supposed to be). What a cynical farce!

Secret Israeli dossier provides no proof for declaring Palestinian NGOs ‘terrorists’
Israel hoped a classified Shin Bet document would convince European governments to stop funding Palestinian rights groups. +972 and Local Call got hold of the dossier’s testimonies — and found no real evidence to justify Israel’s claims.

The thing is, the EU and those EU countries who fund the six groups have immediately condemned Israel’s declaration that the groups are ‘terrorist’. No requests for more information – just condemnation. They all know this is a totally phony exercise, designed to frighten off funders and other supporters of the organisations, and to make their staff leave out of fear of being tarnished with the ‘terrorist’ brush. All from the ‘only democracy in the Middle East’. . .
The big problem here is that the EU regard the PFLP as a “terrorist” organisation, which plays straight into the hands of the zionists. The PFLP is a perfectly legitimate representative of a significant proportion of Palestinian opinion and a damn sight less corrupt or sectarian than certain other factions of the PNC/PLO. I, like many others on the left, identify with the PFLP rather than Hamas, Islamic Jihad or Fatah.
